The Internet, one of the greatest Ministry tools ever created, allows the Gospel of Jesus Christ to reach people globally regardless of geographical borders. The Web is the most powerful and innovative technological discovery since the Printing Press. It's Ministry uses and reach are endless. The Internet has changed the world from a large planet separated by distance and land into a world that is as close as the nearest computer. The message of Jesus Christ is only a click away.
But just like in the days of Joshua, it is full of inhabitants (websites) that worship idol gods, do not believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins, and preach their own religion and gospel. As believers in Jesus Christ, we must possess Cyber territories and reclaim it for the Kingdom of God.
We must ask ourselves, 'How well are we as Christians ministering through the Internet'? Are Christians on the Internet to advertise their Ministries and sell Product or are we REALLY making a difference in the lives of non-believers?
Yes, there are Ministries on the Internet
Yes, you can hear Audio and Video Sermons on the Internet
Yes, you can read the latest word from the Prophets of God on the Internet
Yes, you can buy the latest Christian book on the Internet
But the real question is this: Can we say that the Internet has truly been won for the Kingdom of God? Have we as Christians truly embraced and possessed this territory for the Kingdom of God?
The Internet is a land full opportunities for Christians to Spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to minister unto the nations, and advance the Kingdom of God.
So why Christians have we been slow to embrace this ‘Cyber Promise Land’ as a place of Ministry?
The bible says in Numbers 33:51 - 53
51 "Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'When you cross the Jordan into Canaan, 52 drive out all the inhabitants of the land before you. Destroy all their carved images and their cast idols, and demolish all their high places. 53 Take possession of the land and settle in it, for I have given you the land to possess.
We MUST possess the Internet and make it a place of Healing, Deliverance, and Salvation; a place where the Glory of the Lord can be manifested.
By the numbers:
Using the two (2) most popular search engines on the Internet, the Holy Spirit led me to perform research on this issue.
On November 19, 2007, I performed a google search on the word 'Christ'. Approx. 92.2 million hits were found that contained the word 'Christ' in the description. I then performed a google search on the word 'sex'. Over 601 Million hits were found for the word sex. Using Yahoo, the word 'Christ' returned approx. 189 million hits. On Yahoo, the word 'sex' returned over 760 million hits. Now do the math.
Using the word Christian on Google and Yahoo returned 537 million hits and 325 million hits respectively. These numbers are well below the 601 million and 760 million hits reports for the word 'sex' on Google and Yahoo.
Yahoo: Spiritual Warfare 7.9 million / Witchcraft 14 million
Google: Spiritual Warfare 1.92 million / Witchcraft 8.8 million
This is just a minute sampling of the many disparities of the battles on the Internet between the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Darkness
Here is the truth: There are Giants in the Land. The Kingdom of Darkness certainly has attempted to take possession of the Internet. Satan has recognized that he can influence your thoughts, your children, your husband, your wife, your Church, your Community, and even your World through this medium. The number of Pornographic websites, Aetheist websites, and websites that are contrary to the word of God is staggering. When a website is created for Youth to denounce the name of Jesus Christ, the enemy is actively attempting to gain Cyber territory.
As Christians, we must continue to "fight the good fight" by continuing to Minister on the Internet like never before.
